Formentera is a Balearic island known for its turquoise and crystal clear waters. Its white sand beaches, very soft and warm to the touch, make everyone who visits them fall in love. They are a perfect place to disconnect, rest and recover all the energy used on the day-to-day basis.
Coming to Formentera in summer is ideal, as the ambient temperature is warm and the water is very pleasant. The days are very long. You can get up early with the sunrise and welcome the day with meditation. You can also enjoy your afternoons and take a mediterranean dinner with the sunset.
From Talaya, we share a list with the best beaches in Formentera for this year. In this way, we make sure that you come to the island well informed.
Illetes: Possibly the most famous beach in Formentera, this beautiful place by the sea will delight your senses. Located in the north of the island, in the Ses Salines Natural Park of Ibiza and Formentera, this white sand beach with very often a calm sea is pure magic. The best way to access it is by motorcycle or bicycle. If you decide to go on foot, we recommend stopping from time to time to cool off. If, on the contrary, you opt for a car or motorcycle, you will have to pay the entrance to the parking (the price varies depending on the type of vehicle with which you go). We recommend that you do not stay at the beginning of the beach, as it is the most crowded area. Take a little walk to settle into a more empty space. If you want to eat at a beach bar, we recommend you El Pirata, Juan y Andrea or Es Ministre.
Playa de Levante: Located on the other side of Illetes, this beach of dunes and turquoise water breaks the heart of those who approach it. Favorite among the islanders, also frequented by some nudists, its open areas will bring you calm, intimacy, relaxation and well-being. If you are one of those people who enjoy going against the current, this beach will be your ally. Although it seems very crowded, you can find empty and isolated spaces. Do a little research, walk towards Espalmador and the most beautiful and intimate corners will reveal their pure and silent character; In some sections you will notice that the Levante and Illetes beaches are practically connected. When this beach is downwind, its tranquility and stillness nourish your soul with beauty and happiness. Although it is ideal to organize a summer picnic, you can also eat at the el Manolito Chiringuito.
Espalmador: this tiny island, separated from Formentera by a 3-kilometer stretch of sand at low tide, is wild and practically empty. Its isolated and mysterious character make it, without a doubt, one of the best beaches in Formentera. In addition, this wonderful white bay has a place inside for mud baths: although it has not been proven that these have beneficial and non- infectious effects, you can lean out and look: its name is “Es Racó de s’Alga”. To get to Espalmador, you can rent a boat in the port or a speedboat from Ses Illetes (they are known as “bay boat”). There is no beach bar on this island: we recommend that you prepare a good healthy picnic and enjoy its silence and stillness for a whole day.
Es Caló d’Es Mort: located between Es Ram and Migjorn, this small paradise offers a beautiful bathing area: turquoise water between rocks and a bit of sand. Due to its hidden nature, you should bring food and water with you, as it does not offer any beach bar or restaurant.
Cala Saona: surrounded by pine trees and beautiful cliffs, with transparent water and some fish, this cove is one of the best beaches of Formentera. Located on the western coast of the Pitusa Island, it is famous for its wonderful sunsets. At just 150 meters in length, it offers endless water activities such as kayaking, paddle surfing and snorkeling (we advise you to explore the underwater caves in “Punta Rasa”). Do not forget to take a look at the boathouses, they seem taken from a sailor’s tale. Another factor that makes it one of the best beaches in Formentera are its two restaurants (Sol and Chacala CB) and its free parking.
Migjorn Beach: on the coast of Migjorn, in the south of the island, you will find more than four kilometers of white sand and natural rock to enjoy moments of peace and well-being. A wooden pedestrian walkway connects the different beaches and mini coves, from “Es Mas Pas”, through “Es Codol de Foradat” to even “Es Copinar”… In “Es Ca Marí beach” you will find one of the most emblematic beach bars on the island, Kiosko Ca Marí, and the wonderful restaurant of Sa Plageta. Going towards “Racó Fondo”, you will also find the Blue Bar restaurant, a perfect place to take a lunch or a dinner.
